West Bani Yas Residential Project Wins First Place at GCC Housing Award
The AED 7.3 billion West Bani Yas Residential Project has secured first place at the seventh GCC Housing Award, recognising its integrated approach to sustainable housing, community living and quality of life.
The West Bani Yas Residential Project, developed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, has won first place at the seventh GCC Housing Award, marking a major regional recognition for Abu Dhabi’s approach to integrated residential community development.
The award was presented during the fourth GCC Housing Week in Bahrain under the theme “An Integrated Housing Project with Comprehensive Services that Enhances Quality of Life.” The recognition highlights the project’s approach to sustainability, modern urban planning, community integration and smart infrastructure.
Located in West Bani Yas, Abu Dhabi, the development spans approximately 5.85 million square metres and will provide 1,659 residential villas, representing an investment of approximately AED 7.3 billion. Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2027.
The community has been planned around six key areas: location, integrated facilities, connected communities, quality living environments, cultural and community participation, and smart systems.
Residents will have access to a comprehensive range of facilities, including a government school, mosques, retail centres, parks, recreational areas, sports facilities and dedicated spaces for cultural and community activities.
Accessibility has also been incorporated into the masterplan through an integrated internal road network and infrastructure designed to support inclusive mobility, including the needs of People of Determination.
Sustainability and technology form another major part of the development. The project will feature smart infrastructure for communications, monitoring and emergency alerts, alongside electric vehicle charging stations and intelligent traffic and waste management systems. Infrastructure is also being designed to accommodate emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles.
The development is also introducing 3D printing technology to construct a two-storey villa for the first time within the project. The initiative aims to accelerate construction, improve efficiency and reduce material waste while supporting more sustainable building methods.
With its combination of large-scale housing, community facilities, smart infrastructure and sustainable design, West Bani Yas represents Abu Dhabi’s continued focus on developing integrated residential communities designed around long-term quality of life.
