Abu Dhabi Announces New Expressway and Bridges to Improve Mussafah Connectivity
Abu Dhabi unveils a 13-kilometre road improvement project featuring a new expressway, additional bridges and upgraded junctions to reduce congestion and improve connectivity across Mussafah.

Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced major infrastructure upgrades in Mussafah aimed at improving traffic flow, road safety and accessibility between the industrial district, Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Zayed City.
The project will cover approximately 13 kilometres along E30 and 8th Street, introducing a new free-flowing expressway with three lanes in each direction and additional service lanes to maintain access to local businesses.
Key improvements include upgrades to four interchanges, modifications to nine major junctions, two new bridges connecting Mussafah to Mohamed Bin Zayed City, and a dedicated pedestrian bridge.
The upgraded road network is expected to accommodate up to 4,000 vehicles per hour along 8th Street, significantly improving traffic efficiency and supporting commercial activity.
The development forms part of Abu Dhabi's broader infrastructure strategy to strengthen connectivity, support economic growth and accommodate the emirate's long-term urban expansion.
